Beakerhead - A Smash Up Of Art, Science And Engineering!
The third annual Beakerhead Festival
is almost upon us! From September 16th to 20th Calgary will come alive with an array of activities where arts and sciences collide. Beakerhead’s mandate is to inspire tomorrow’s workforce, stimulate ingenuity, engage the community and build an authentic, contemporary culture.
Events we are excited to attend:
, a string (theory) of incredible encounters that will transform Smith’s very own backyard, Tomkins Park, with two unique installations entitled TouchMe and Sound Clouds. TouchMe, an interactive installation brought to us by prominent Dutch artists Blendid Interaction Design, allows guests to become a permanent part of the master piece by pressing their hands, feet, face or body against frosted glass as a laser photo scans your image.Sound Clouds, a sound and light public art installation comes to us from the renowned Vancouver artists Tangible Interaction. Their glowing cloud-like playscape, which is inspired by the dewy, wet weather of the West Coast, encompasses eight luminescent pieces of art. Relativity will be transforming Tomkins Park into a free pop-up art show, open to all ages, starting Wednesday, September 16th and running until Sunday, September 20th. Click here
